Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo Informational Text and Activities is a bundle of reading comprehension, writing, math and fun activities to celebrate the popular Cinco de Mayo holiday. In this engaging Cinco de Mayo activity pack you get:
An informational text about the history of Cinco de Mayo and how it is celebrated today, followed by two sets of text dependent comprehension questions designed for close reading.
One set requires students to find answers directly from the text. The other, “Digging Deeper”, does just that. It drives students further into the text to answer higher level, inferential and analytical questions.
Both sets of questions come with answer keys. Each set stands alone. You have the option to use one or both of the sets, as suit your purpose and time frame.
A third set of “Before Reading” questions may be used to engage students prior to their first reading of the text.
A “Cinco de Mayo Make Five” math game requiring students to use two or four operations. Use regular dice or a deck of playing cards. The object of the game is to make the equation that most closely equals five. The game is a great skill builder and mind-stretcher, very popular with students.
A fun word search with answer key.
Thematic lined paper that can be used for a variety of purposes such as summary writing, describing how students would plan a Cinco de Mayo celebration in their town, or any assignment the teacher wishes. Two styles of paper are included.
Two contemporary blackline coloring pages.
